Travel Is My Passion

I am so excited to talk destinations with you, but first, let me tell you a little about myself.

I spent the first part of my professional life in Human Resources, helping employees navigate the corporate world. I went part-time for several years to focus on our two kids — volunteering in their classrooms and logging more carpool hours than I can count. Once our youngest headed off to college, I needed something to do with all that newfound free time, and that’s how Serious Travels was born, in 2016.

I’ve always traveled. It started as a kid, a “military brat” moving from base to base with my family following my Dad in the Air Force, and it never really stopped. Scott and I have been married 30-plus years now, raised two kids, and hosted five exchange students in our home over the years. Somewhere in all of that, we realized travel was the thing that made it all make sense.

Since launching Serious Travels, I’ve sailed nearly every ocean and river cruise line worth naming, stayed at resorts and destinations around the globe, and racked up more than 60 countries across six continents. I haven’t done it all — but I have a genuinely unreasonable amount of firsthand experience to share with you.

In 2022, I was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer. Instead of letting it take over, I leaned into travel even harder — with Scott right there beside me, choosing new horizons and time with the people I love over letting the diagnosis run the show. My cancer is currently under control, and I’m grateful for every mile since. It’s important for me to be open about my cancer because I want others to know it’s possible to overcome the odds and live a full life while doing it.

Today, Scott works alongside me as Serious Travels’ Marketing and Brand Ambassador, and we’re backed by CLIA and IATA affiliations plus KHM Travel, a host agency with a deep bench of suppliers and connections. As Orlando locals with Disney season passes — and Disney Passport Stamps from the Disney parks in Tokyo, Paris, and California — we bring real, firsthand experience to every trip we plan.
