Have a question about planning a trip with us? Browse the answers below — and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, just reach out directly.
What types of travel services do you offer?
Serious Travels specializes in ocean and river cruising, resort and island getaways, safaris and adventure travel, Disney and Universal Orlando planning, and trips for families, couples, and solo travelers. We also host an annual group trip open to our clients and friends.
How do I book a trip with Serious Travels?
Booking with us is personal, start to finish:
- Tell us your story. Reach out and share what you’re dreaming up — the destination, the occasion, the budget, the must-haves.
- Schedule a consultation. We’ll set up a call to talk through your trip in more detail.
- Review your options. We’ll research and present curated options that fit your preferences and budget.
- Confirm your trip. Once you choose your destination and accommodations, we’ll handle the booking and manage your reservation.
- Prepare for travel. Before you depart, we’ll make sure you have your documents, tips, and everything you need to know.
Do you charge planning fees?
We do not charge any fees at this time. All of our fees are paid as commission through our suppliers.
What destinations can you book travel to?
Just about anywhere. Between the two of us, we’ve traveled to more than 60 countries across six continents, and we can build single-destination or multi-destination itineraries. Talk to us about where you’re headed.
Can you help with group trips?
Absolutely — group travel is one of our favorite things to plan. Girls trips, golf trips, family reunions, weddings, and anything in between. We also host one or two group trips each year that are open to all of our clients and friends to join.
Do you offer customizable travel packages?
Yes. We build packages around what matters to you — accommodations, transportation, cruise bookings, transfers, activities, and travel insurance — and we can arrange special-occasion touches like celebrations, surprises, and group add-ons.
How do I know I’m getting the best rate?
We’re constantly tracking deals and negotiating with our travel suppliers to make sure you get real value — not just the first price that comes up in a search.
Do I need a passport to travel?
If you’re traveling outside the country, yes — you’ll need a valid, government-issued passport that won’t expire within six months of your return date and has at least two blank pages. For cruises that depart from and return to the same U.S. port, a passport isn’t required (a government-issued ID and birth certificate will do), but we still recommend having one on hand in case of an emergency. For more information on applying or renewing, visit travel.state.gov.
Do you provide travel insurance?
We offer — and always recommend — travel insurance through a couple of trusted suppliers, because nobody wants their vacation ruined by something unexpected. Ask us about coverage options when we plan your trip.
Can you book vacation rentals or Airbnbs?
No, sorry — we don’t book Airbnbs. We do, however, have access to luxury villas and vacation homes in select destinations.
Do you book flights?
Serious Travels only books flights for travel packages that we create and manage. We do not book air tickets individually. All flights must be booked as part of a full travel package.
What can I book on my own once you’ve planned my trip?
We focus on planning the core of your trip — accommodations, transportation, cruises, tours, and other travel experiences. We’re always happy to recommend restaurants, activities, and local favorites, but those reservations are typically ones you’d make yourself, directly with the venue. We’ll make sure your itinerary leaves room for it.
What if I need to cancel or change my booking?
We understand plans change. Please read all of your paperwork carefully. Keep in mind our supplier’s own cancellation and change policies also apply and vary by trip. We recommend contacting us as soon as possible if anything needs to change. We will do our best to be your advocate, but the supplier’s policy will hold the final decision.
